APL leaves Apoteket AB

APL (Apoteket Production & Laboratories AB) has until now been a subsidiary of Apoteket AB and is now an independent company under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. The decoupling of APL is because pharmacies are not allowed to simultaneously be drug manufacturers, which is one of the main areas of APL.

APL has three business units targeted at health care, pharmacies and life science and the company will continue to develop units activities as a cohesive company. APL develops and manufactures special pharmaceuticals to meet the medical needs not met by commercial pharmaceuticals.

 - It is a natural step to decouple APL now as the pharmacy market is re-regulated. APL currently has agreements with all pharmacy operators, who so wish, to deliver special pharmaceuticals. I see this as a very good solution to APL.

-We will continue to produce special pharmaceuticals which many times is vital, says Eva Sjökvist Saers, CEO of APL. It also gives us good opportunities to develop our offerings to all pharmacy operators and health care.

- Through a cohesive business will APL develop the business as a contract company. We have partnerships with companies in the pharmaceutical industry, for example, with development and manufacture of medicines for clinical trials. In this way we contribute to the clinical research so that new and better drugs can be developed, continues Eva Sjökvist Saers, CEO.
