Stockholm, 1st September 2011; Today, Swedish manufacturer of extemporaneous preparations, APL, launches a registry service, Registertjänst. The service has been set up and will be run by APL at the request of the Swedish Ministry of Health and is specifically intended for registering stock preparations, making them accessible to health-care providers.
In conjunction with the re-regulation of the Swedish pharmacy industry in July 2009, which also saw the birth of extemporaneous pharmacies, the Swedish Ministry of Healthy assigned APL the task of developing, deploying and managing the extemporaneous stock preparations registry. The registry is open to all MPA (Swedish Medical Products Agency) approved extemporaneous pharmacies.
The aim of the registry is to provide health-care workers and pharmacies with product and article information for stock preparations through the NPL and VARA registries, managed by MPA and Apotekens Service AB respectively.
The registry has been developed and the connected to the NPL in close collaboration with MPA, Apotekens Service AB and the Swedish Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency (TLV). The registry has been subjected to extensive testing prior to its launch.
Registertjänst is an interim solution available to all MPA approved extemporaneous pharmacies until a new, permanent solution has been developed.
