APL’s work for sustainable development builds on our vision and set of core values. By acting in accordance with these and managing our operations responsibly, we build confidence in our stakeholders, as well as our customers, staff, owners, and the authorities.
Environmental aspects have always been treated carefully in APL. All our properties, equipment, products, and services influence the environment in some way. The choice is for us to focus on what is most significant.
”Lean Green” is an initiative we’re working on for continuous improvements for a sustainable APL. All processes are revised in order to minimize waste of resources both materially and economically. The result is less environmental burden, more efficient processes, better offers to customers and a contribution towards society for sustainable development.
Goals from the sustainability programme 2010-2012
The environment
- Reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10%
- Reduce medicine waste from production by 20%
- Reduce use of chlorinated solvents by 5%
Update
We have carried out an extensive survey of our energy consumption at all our units, and we have outlined several measures to reduce our energy consumption, some of which have already been initiated. This reduction in energy consumption will, in turn, reduce costs.
Our production generates increasingly less pharmaceutical waste, as we have developed standardized working methods, clear definitions and improvements to our processes.
We have continually made our Sustainability committee meetings more efficient, with greater focus on deviations from our operational plan or our management system (deviations).
