Special pharmaceuticals are specially manufactured drugs offering wide possibilities of individually adapted treatment. The most common reasons for prescribing customized pharmaceuticals are:

• The desired dosage and/or dosage form is not available
• There are no approved pharmaceutical drugs containing the required substance
• The pharmaceutical has such a short expiration date that it must be prepared in connection with being used
• Approved pharmaceutical contains a substance that causes an allergic reaction in a patient

APL has the resources to manufacture most types of pharmaceuticals, such as capsules, suppositories and ointments, as well as sterile pharmaceuticals such as injection solutions and eye drops. We also often prepare dilutions and other adjustments for different types of ambulatory systems.
