How we work with decisions and timing in pharmaceutical manufacturing
In pharmaceutical manufacturing, time pressure is always present. Our experience is that progress rarely depends on moving faster, but on making the right decisions at the right time.
Decisions are taken early – with the full context
We place particular emphasis on early decisions around process design, documentation scope and control strategy. These choices set the framework for everything that follows. By addressing them early and cross‑functionally, we reduce the need for later rework and reactive adjustments.
Clear decision ownership is essential
Many technical questions sit at the intersection of quality, operations, development and regulatory. We work actively to clarify who owns which decisions and when they need to be taken. This prevents delays caused by uncertainty and enables timely escalation when needed.
Timing matters more than speed
In regulated manufacturing, late decisions are often more costly than slow ones. Our focus is therefore on decision timing – ensuring that key questions are resolved before they become constraints, while there is still room to choose between robust options.
This way of working supports predictability, reduces complexity and strengthens long‑term project performance. It is also a recurring topic in our discussions with partners and peers, including at NLS days in Stockholm and CPHI Milan.
