Semi-solid preparations
Semi-solid dosage forms are used to deliver medicines, medical products or cosmetic products via the skin or mucous membranes.
We develop and manufacture semi-solid dosage forms for internal or external use:
- Products for external use are absorbed through the skin and often used to treat various skin conditions. Such products are usually manufactured in a non-sterile environment.
- Some products for internal use are manufactured in a sterile or aseptic environment to minimize the risk of infection. These include ophthalmic and vaginal gels.
We can use known and established bases as the starting point for semi-solid dosage forms or develop entirely new bases. We can develop and manufacture the following semi-solid dosage forms:
- Salves
- Creams
- Gels
- Lotions
- Suppositories
- Vagitories
Semi-solid dosage forms are usually filled in commonly used packaging materials, such as plastic or glass bottles, pump jars or plastic, aluminum or laminate tubes.
